Message: Hey guys. I have a 2013 Chevy Silverado with 134,000 miles on it. Its in decent shape mechanically and has a few dings and scratches. I have had it since 2016 but have been considering getting a new truck. I don't owe anything on it so it would be used as a down payment more or less. What are your thoughts on upgrading this thing?
Jared,
Thanks for the message! I'm not sure how long it has been since you bought a new truck or if you've even priced them recently, but a new Silverado is likely going to cost you 4x what you'll get for your 2013. If your truck is in good shape and doesn't need a ton of money to recon, I'd suggest getting some prices on a basic tune-up and a detail to see if it will help you fall in love with it again. Make sure you also consider that you currently have no note and the interest rate these days likely won't be that good.
Something else to also consider would be a used truck that's a little newer than your current one. The Silverado body style changed the next year after your current style and went through 2018, then changed again in 2019. I'd still spend the money on a detail even if you are thinking about upgrading, which will maximize your resell or trade in value. If you want to use the contact form and send me some more info on your truck I'll run the carfax and get you some wholesale and retail values.
Let me know if this helps and thanks for contacting us!
